We have one of the largest practices in the area of renewable energy in the State of Hawaii.  Our clients include developers of wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and biofuel projects.  We assist our clients in a wide range of areas, including acquisition, financing, permitting and entitlements, federal, state and local regulatory matters, and power purchase and other off take agreements.  We have extensive experience negotiating with Hawaii’s electric utilities.  We regularly appear before the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission on energy and other matters, and we regularly work with the Division of Consumer Advocacy of the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and the Strategic Industries Division of the Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.  We are involved, on behalf of various clients, in numerous energy policy forums and proceedings.  We also assisted in the drafting of recently-enacted legislation relating to energy matters, including legislation establishing streamlined permitting and entitlement processes for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
